The yachting industry has, until recently, been characterized by the existence of a number of diverse consultants confined to particular tasks offering yacht owners piecemeal solutions to the multifold problematic of yacht ownership.
Most service providers failed to understand that the yachting industry is distinct from the other maritime industries, and possibly this led to an amateurish approach and has not allowed the industry to develop rapidly in its early years. Admittedly the yachting industry is relatively young compared to other maritime industries and has grown in importance of recent, so much so that Governments have begun recognizing the contribution of ‘yachting’ to the market and are now considering ‘yachting’ as an industry in itself. Indeed, this recent interest is demonstrated by the proliferation of regulations and standards issued by the various authorities regulating the industry.
The playing field yacht owners and yacht consultants were accustomed to be in is no longer the same, and yacht owners cannot but adapt if they wish to continue enjoying their sport and leisure time.
Conscious of the fragmentation in the provision of professional services in the yachting industry, and the lack of qualified consultants, the founding members of DF Marine understood the need for a specialized and comprehensive service to the yachting industry.
